Release Flow
9 min readPublishing Worlds
Move from local creation to a live world page players can discover, favorite, and play in Voxly Player.
Before you publish
- Make sure players can spawn safely.
- Check that the main objective or activity works.
- Remove test-only objects.
- Set a clear title, description, genre, and tags.
- Choose visibility based on whether the world is ready to share.
What publishing does
Publishing sends the current playable version of your world to VoxlyWorld.com so players can launch it in Voxly Player from the world page.
Studio packages the editable world snapshot and the playable bundle together. Local Save and Publish are separate: saving keeps your local file updated, while publishing updates the website version players can launch.
Create or update
Create new world makes a new world page on VoxlyWorld.com. Update existing world publishes over one of your existing worlds without creating a duplicate.
When updating, Studio loads your owned worlds from VoxlyWorld.com and shows them in the Publish window. You cannot publish over a world owned by another creator.
Automatic thumbnails
Every Studio publish captures the current 3D viewport camera as the automatic world thumbnail. Before publishing, point the Studio camera at the view you want players to see first.
If you upload a custom thumbnail on the website and staff approves it, that approved custom thumbnail stays primary. Studio still saves the latest automatic thumbnail for later use if the custom thumbnail is removed or no longer approved.
- Approved custom thumbnail appears first.
- Latest Studio publish thumbnail appears when there is no approved custom thumbnail.
- Fallback art appears only when neither thumbnail exists.
Visibility
- Public worlds can be discovered by players.
- Unlisted worlds can be shared by link.
- Private worlds are for you and staff access while you keep building.
Update rhythm
Use update notes to tell players what changed. Release labels are optional and work best for public milestones, seasons, events, or large updates.
